Memorial Weekend at work

So, I had a busy memorial day week and weekend!
It was race week at work!
We had World Superbike world championship races!!!
This is the biggest race of the year for us, so there was a lot of prep!
This is my desk a couple days before saturday (the first race day).
I look at this and think, wow, what a clean desk.
Because during the weekend it was a train wreck! I couldn't see either of my filing systems and could barely reach my phone with all the stuff in the way. And i didn't get a picture of the rest of the office...but that was hard to manuvure as well! It kinda stunk because the weather on saturday and sunday were rough! Saturday was full of rain and i was out on my golf cart unprepared for the day! So, i was soaked and chilled to the bone the whole day!
My job for the weekend was to escort and manage all the bands and dance groups we had scheduled to play on our stage for the weekend! So, a band would show up so i would greet them and take them to the stage; they would unload all their stuff and then i would escort them to the parking area and would then take them back to the stage with me on my golf cart.  After they were finished playing i would take them back to get their cars. So, i would be doing this when 3 bands showed up at the same time. I was also doing any other errand that needed to be done!
So, the weather was a total damper on the first part of the weekend....
But, i found a crush of the weekend! On a hot french racer! haha
That is Max Berger #121. Yes, i do have his autograph!
So, anyway. Finally monday comes and the weather is great! No rain and plenty of sun! It's a pretty chill day for me because i only had 1 band in the morning and a dance group in the afternoon. My parents came out so i carted them around and we went to watch the first race.  Because we had a golf cart we could hop around and watch the race from different parts of the track. After the first race ended i had some duties to get to and just toted my parents around with me.
After my parents left, my duties were taken care of. So, i went to see my friend who was in charge of the volunteers. I ended up going out with her and some other people to the west side of the track where the public isn't allowed and watched the last race from a couple feet away from the fence!
So the one in the front is my man Max. This race was kind of crazy cuz after a few laps a driver crashed and spilled oil all over the road. So, they had to stop the race to clean it up. It took an hour... And the leader Carlos Checka(i probably spelled it wrong) was in the lead before and after the spill incident. He had also taken first in every race all day and was the winner the 2 previous years. After 2 laps after the break he crashed. Made me feel so bad! So anyway, after we watched some of that race we headed back to the volunteer tent where i helped out until i left! I had such a fun weekend! I was not a race fan before working here. But....i loved watching these races. Nascar wasn't nealry as cool as this! I worked 3 12 hour days; 2 of which where rainy, cold and windy. Yet, i still had such a fun time!
This is after monday...parents bought cotton candy....If only Max could see me now! haha

In-Laws

Recent happenings have made me think:
It was my sister-in-law Jill's birthday on friday so I was thinkin about her.
My other sister-in-law Natalie will be here in about a month, so she's been on my mind too.
My brother-in-law Jeff is nearby and i've seen him recently.
So, all this made me think.
I am SO blessed. My siblings have made wonderful choices in choosing their eternal companions.
Natalie is just so amazing; she is super talented and can create anything. She's also someone i can tell anything. I can call her or text her with drama, or boy news, or anything and we can talk for a long time. I just love her so much and I am so excited to spend a week with her soon!
Jeff is great too; he's quiet around a lot of people, but that makes his humor even better. When he cracks a joke, it's a good one. You can see how much he loves his kids when he plays with them, and i truly enjoy hanging out with him and playing games.
Not sure what Jill thinks, but for me, we've become a lot closer in the last 2 years. Since we've lived about a block away, i'm able to see her often. I've been around in times of heartache and in times of joy. It was great to know that if i needed to escape my crazy roommates or just talk, i could go to her place and we'd chat. She also provided me with many meals, which are always delicious and healthy!
I love that i can consider my sister-in-laws and brother-in-law my friends and I know they will always support and love me even though we've really only known eachother for 10 years or less.
Good job Ken, Katie and Rob!

My Job

Alright. So, now that I've been at my new job for about 3 weeks, I figured I would tell you about it. So, i'm the event coordinator at Miller Motorsports Park. I get to drive 45 mins there and back everyday. I also have a golf cart. :) I am the only coordinator under the events manager and there are 2 events interns. I have my own desk, phone, computer, etc. So basically, the park has all these different driving schools: BOSS, mustang experience, teen driving, yamaha riding, etc. I'm in charge of keeping the catering and beverages taken care of. So, i am in charge of the drinks and  inventory it every week and stock the fridges multiple times a day. That may not sound like much, but it is. On top of that, I also work corporate events. Companies can come and do the go karts and have their meetings and meals at the track, so i make sure their room is set up, their food is ready, i take care of the transportation they need to get from karting to the museum to their meeting room. I give them my cell number so they call me whenever they have a question and i go running. I go to their karting portion of their event and we give out a champion award and a cone of shame award so i have to know who to give it to and i make a personal relationship with the clients. My schedule is normally 7am to 3pm...which means i wake up at 4:45 and leave the house at 6 to be there by 7. Yes, i'm a tired kid these days. I wake up early, work my brains out for 8 hours, come home and try to go to bed around 10, but that doesn't happen. This coming weekend is our first "major" event: The Utah Grand Prix and Nascar. So, i'll be at work for 11 hours saturday and sunday. Tooele is always windy too, which isn't a great situation with my hair...and bugs are everywhere. Especially when i'm driving the golf cart they fly into my face all day long and i pull them from out of....my cleavage.... Yeah, it's gross.  So, I love my job. Yes, i'm tired and hot and wind blown, but I'm doing what I love to do. Running around working events. :)

The Evergreen State

Alright, so...
My best friend and house mate decided to move back home.
After a couple days, it was decided that i should drive up to Washington with her and then fly back.
So, we set off on the 12 hour drive and it went really well. We had great weather and made it in exactly 12. It was spring break for the kids, so we went to the coast! Valine had rented this super cute and super small beach house in a cute little community.
This is the main level. There's a bathroom and a small bedroom as well.
And this is the loft upstairs.
So it was small, but really cute and cozy! We went to the beach everyday and had perfect weather! It was sunny everyday. We played a lot of ultimate frisbee and after our toes barely touched the water we decided it was too cold to touch, so we just watched the waves come in. We also went to a nearby town and went through the shops, rode on bumper cars (which we all thoroughly loved and just laughed the whole time) and we also saw Mirror Mirror which was really cute, and i recommend seeing it.
Anyway, here are beach pictures!

I flew home easter morning. Left for the airport at 4 am, plane left at 6. It was actually really nice because the flight was empty so i had a whole row to myself to lay on and slept the whole way.
It was a fun vacation and i loved the ocean, but it was great to be home. I think i was vacationed out if that is at all possible.

Cocoa Beach and saying goodbye

Well folks, we've reached the last (sadly) day in Florida. We had a rental car for the day so we packed up all our stuff, loaded it in the car and headed for the Atlantic Ocean. Our plan was to go towards Cocoa Beach and we decided we had enough tourist sites, so we skipped cape canaveral. We ended up renting a few things: a couple beach chairs, an umbrella and two boogie boards. After some laying out and relaxing, dad and i tried the boogie boards.

It was so tiring, but so much fun! You would walk into the water and think you made so much progress, but one little wave takes you right back to shin deep water. So, it's a lot of pushing through waves, tasting salt water and little ride time. So, we were having fun when all of the sudden a wave crashed over me and i got the water in my eye. Salt water on contacts.....BAD NEWS!!! I was in so much pain! I was almost instantly in tears, so we headed back to shore to dry off. It was a short but sweet day at the beach. We had to be at the airport at 3ish. I just love the Ocean. It makes my soul happy and...i just love it. i would be there everyday if i could.

In other news: this is also the day i got a phone call. I got the job as an event coordinator at Miller Motorsports Park. :) So, i turned in my two weeks at Provo Beach Resort (Hallelujah chorus)! I worked and moved out of my apartment and the second week i wasn't scheduled so i drove with Elise to washington. That adventure will be in the next post!
